1969 Gruman Flat Bottom, Aluminum, V Hull, 13ft

Welcome to tin boats! I think you might want to put on the 5200 before the self etching primer. I am kinda asking the same question now. My boat is already painted on the bottom and I bought some 5200 and want to seal them, but I dont know if I can apply it over the painted surface and then...

Your dad would be so proud of you. Way to use his memories and spirit to motivate you in you build. Very nice. I am guessing you are Canadian Military? I am in the US Army. I have served with some really Great Canadians in Iraq. Thank you for what you do! Oh Canada!

Fishingmich- you are more than welcome. I love your ideas! I may try the. Battery box idea also! I try to use any space that might be closed in or wasted for storage. I have so many little access doors on my build. Lol. I hate being without something. I guess that's the military side of me. I...

    Why a floor?

It's all just personal preference. If you have a flat surface already to carpet over then no need for the plywood floor. My semi v has weird floors and I wanted some below the floor storage. That's the beauty of these mods....personal preference. The only person you have to please is yourself...

The bilge pump was on. Clearance for $19.00 for an 800gph one. The install kit was $11.00. All you need is the marine sealant for the through hull fitting and to mount the pump base if you have nowhere to screw it in on the floor.

Lowe 1648 MV floor and bow deck

Workmanship looks good to me! Carpet is so forgiving, lol. I made a few to many "rough cuts" that I was able to hide with the carpet. 1648....ahhhhh...my dream boat. Someday I will have one...

I am sure however it ends up is going to be great! That's the beauty of these mods, they are all one offs! No one is alike. I learned so much from this forum. Ideas, other peoples mistakes (although I still made a bunch). Good luck with the build! And have fun with it!

I ordered some goodies on Amazon! I currently have clip on bow and stern lights. But it's time to upgrade! I have a blue top optima, so I am not worried about having enough juice, however, I went with the most conservative electrical choice, LEDs. They cost more but, they will sip the...

Bilge pump installation. Walmart had the pump and the install kit on clearance! :D Its always scary drilling a 1" hole in your boat! I will post a pic of the finished pump install when the bracket sealant dries.

Does anyone know if you can put 3M 5200 over paint? Or does it have to be applied to bare metal? I am concerned about a few rivets, and this year, I want her WATERTIGHT! Last year I had a few small leaks. Maybe 6 ounces after 8 hours. But my boat is already painted. If possible I would like...

Quite the fisherman! Seems like you said he is a football player, and I saw a basketball shirt too! Outdoors-man and an Athlete! I like what you are doing with the boat, are you going to make small cubby storages between the floor joists of the lower deck? I hate to waste space and that what...

Thanks! I posted an add on Craigslist about looking for a super cheap trailer and a Colonel that works at our hospital on post called me up. The whole trailer had bedliner painted on it so the metal was in good shape. I had to put a light kit and tires on it. If you notice, the LED lights that...

Those pesky fishing nets can be tough to store. They make a folding net that stores very well and small. It is pretty inexpensive, and pretty tough when expanded out. https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B001FTU7YY/ref=redir_mdp_mobile This one is made by Frabil and they make bigger ones too. Hope...
