    1958 Lonestar Holiday bowfishing/hunting conversion

If it is a lone star boat, it would have to be a Saratoga. Only model with fins like this. The holiday had no fins at all. You do great work. Take care and have fun. Kim

Will A Saratoga plane off with a new yamaha 15hp 4stroke

The lonestar Saratoga was sold. I got the king commander by lonestar. It's 14 feet and 200 lbs so should plane fine. The Saratoga was a v hull but quite flat the last 3/4 of the hull. It was about 400 lbs as set up now, not much wood inside. Is there an approx weight/length range for a 15 hp...

Will A Saratoga plane off with a new yamaha 15hp 4stroke

I am looking at a Saratoga and a Commander. I have a 2004 Yamaha 15hp 4 stroke. I like the Saratoga better but am worried it won't plane. I'll be in saltwater primarily. Does anyone have any experience on this? Thanks a lot. Kim

    1958 Lonestar Holiday bowfishing/hunting conversion

Your boat is not a lonestar holiday. They didn't have the fins. I have a holiday if you care to see what they look like. The holiday was a very deep offshore boat. I can check my records and tell you what model this is if you care to know. My father built them. Kim

Wow, that's nice. I appreciate the info. Why the metal plate on the center part? scuffing from stuff (gas tank, etc.) perhaps? Kim

    Cavitation Plate Height

Can Y'all tell me where should the cavitation plate (or planing fin on the motor shaft) should be in relation to the bottom of the boat. I've seen recommendations that say at the water line (in line with the bottom of the boat), and others that say one to two inches below the bottom of the boat...

Is my Transom Repair OK ??

Thanks for the replies, I realized that I miss-stated the thickness. I corrected (edited) it. I am copying what was on the boat but it may have been re-done and not what the manufacturer had originally. this is a good point, I'll try to find an original picture of the boat. The only thing I'm...

Is my Transom Repair OK ??

Hi, I'm new here and wanted to run this by y'all before I cut into a nice piece of oak plywood. I'm planning three layers of 3/4 inch oak plywood under the motor; two layers outside and 1 inside. The 3/4 inch layer on the inside will cover most of the transom. I'm keeping it about 4 inches away...
