Question:Using lawn & garden Battery for ONLY depth finder

Jackson makes the boat (and seat). Very comfy, but I do most of my fishing standing up. I got mine at 15 or 20%, probably still overpriced , but when you are electronically challenged like myself, it's easier to just pay up sometimes. (Where were you guys when I bought this stuff? )...

    Here goes nothing...(Update 4/17)

Thanks fender. I really want to stick with the ½” (because that’s what I have). I was thinking about coming up with something to brace it a little. Ah, makes sense! I was really just thinking about tension. Oddly enough, my original plan included a piece of angle there. #-o Thanks!

Do you guys think 1/2" plywood be be strong enough for that large center hatch :?:

Question:Using lawn & garden Battery for ONLY depth finder

I too use a 12v/7amp battery for my Humminbird 597di Combo on my kayak. I've only ran it for two full days before charging it, but I'm sure it will go for a couple more no problem. (For use in my kayak) I modified a dry box to create a waterproof container for the battery while it's in the hull...

Caught two 15+ pound gar yesterday :)

Nice longnose! I don't know why people dislike gar so much, I mean look at them, they're awesome. :D

Nicely done =D> What brand paint did you use for the decks?

    Here goes nothing...(Update 4/17)

Well, I got a few hours this past weekend to spend working on the boat. Things I accomplished: Mounted motor New LED trailer lights and wiring with waterproof connections Mounted spare tire holder on trailer Finished framing front and back decks (except for a few bolts and screws) I forgot my...

Thanks for the suggestions, gentlemen. It looks like Captain Ahab is going to take care of me!

    Piano Hinges

Where did you guys purchase your aluminum piano hinges for deck hatches? Since I'm using 1/2" plywood, I should use hinges with 1/2" flanges, right?

    Here goes nothing...(Update 4/17)

It's all bolted. Here is pic of the bottom. You can see my excessively messy use of sealant. Do you guys think this will hold up alright. It all feels rock-solid... The only power tools I have are a jigsaw and a drill, so I have to keep things fairly simple.

    Here goes nothing...(Update 4/17)

Alright, I've had about 3-4 full days to work on the boat over the past several weeks. I'm really hoping I'm going to have time to finish. To complicate things, I think I tore my ACL last night #-o . Here are some pics of my progress. I forgot to get pics of the boat with the motor and...

    2012 tinboats tournament?

I think state records can be deceiving and most are decades old. I fish an online kayak tournament series and they use the AMI calculator for some events to even things up: https://www.anglingmasters.com/index.aspx?too=2003&eve=4 And, of course, everything is based on length.

Looking for an all around "rod reel combo" recommendation

I'll assume your are looking for a spinning combo. You can definitely work with $100, but you’ll be fairly limited. Just realize that at that price point you will be looking mostly at the bottom end of the product lines. You may benefit from buying a pre-assembled combo from Bass Pro or...

What kind of price range are we looking at, Great White? I'm assuming you want a spinning combo?

Zubes' 14 ft Alumacraft shallow V

Zubes, I have nearly the same boat and am using your front deck build as a template for mine. What thickness was the angle aluminum that you used? I’ve been wondering if I could get away with using 1/16” as it’s nearly half the price as the 1/8”.

    Down Imaging - Any Thoughts?

Ictaluras (punctatus or furcatus?), I have a Humminbird 597ci HD DI on my kayak. Ninety percent of the time I use the DI/Switchfire split screen. As mentioned earlier, fish show up better with the Switchfire but you can see details of the structure with the DI. I, personally, would not get a...

    Here goes nothing...(Update 4/17)

Thanks lockstock. Now I’m trying to determine what grip range I’ll need for my rivets. I’m planning on riveting some 1/8” angle aluminum to the benches and sides of the boat when I begin my decks. Is the thickness for the hull and benches usually the same ? 1/8”? If they’re both 1/8” - the...
