Thanks for the suggestions. I've ordered a hydrofoil but in the mean time experminted with moving some weight forward. Big difference. I plan on building something permanent this winter but till then I'll probably just throw a couple of sand bags up front and keep on fishing. Thanks again.

Thanks for all the great information here. New jon boat owner - bare bones Fisher 1436 w/ 8hp Honda. I always fish by myself so the boat is just the right size. The motor is perfect. The problems is I've tried adjusting the tilt in all positions but the boat just won't plane out. About ready...
