Engine runs normal until taken off choke then runs very fast

+1 if idle not turned up/throttle stuck open, then vacuum leak somewhere.

    Question about props and RPM

yeah i know what you mean I did not expect it to just that much either, I am happy with the 9" and was thinking the same thing about the 10", but like you said it will be better when I load the boat more. Later if I ever have another $135 burning a hole in my pocket maybe I will get a 10" and...

i have to push mine slightly toward reverse to get it to fully disengage and go into neutral, then its fine on my "87 9.9 figured something was slightly out of adjustment, doesn't pop out of gear or anything.

    Question about props and RPM

Today was the first test run on the new SS prop and all i can say is wow!!! Had some unexpected results....WAY less vibration, which is surprising because the old prop looked fine. Ok on to the performance part.....I went down one pitch to a 9" from a 10". My rpm's went to a hair over...

    navionics app

you can not, probably for just that reason. They would not want you to by a $10 app and be able to replace their $150 map I would think. I like this app because I can look to see where I want to go the night before and get familiar with the area with the google map over lay, then post to FB so...

    harbor freight boat trailer wiring

I love my hf trailer....I put a lead weight on the wire and fed each side of the trailer with it tilted up...worked good for me...I did not go through the tongue I just wrapped the wire around it in a spiral and zipped it. No issues at all in several months of salt water use, everything still...

Ordered a solas saturn SS prop today, 9.25x9in., stock alum prop is 9.5x10. After the wife and I went out yesterday and my new REAL made in USA tiny tach(my 3yr old son took the Chinese knock tiny tach that I had on it apart and destroyed it haha) confirmed my RPM was too low. With she and I...

NetFlix & Hulu on the home TV, HOW??

sorry, i dont know of anything that would work reliably for less than $100. Maybe shop ebay or CL for the units I listed. On my big tv even tho it has apps i have a small net top computer hooked to it, lenveno brand, but even that was $300. a used wii might be a better option as it has rca's...

NetFlix & Hulu on the home TV, HOW??

here are some otions....we gave up cable over a year ago and havent looked back, saves over $120 a month.....more money for the boat ;-) our tv has the apps built in, but most blue rays also have the apps, which would make hooking up to the tv's super simple, proabably $200 or less for blue ray...

    Question about props and RPM

you should not have to change the exhaust tubes on a late production '87, the part numbers are the same for a 9.9 or a 15, they both use the tuned exhaust tube unlike the earlier years. I guess they did this to save money. Mine also already had the reed valve spacers. I think i am going to...

    Question about props and RPM

ok you said something that has me thinking now.....I have had several glass boats in my life with motors from 115 to 225hp. With those boats you always start with the motor all the way in, get the boat on a plane, then start to trim them out until you find the sweet spot, which normally would...

    Question about props and RPM

thanks Jonny for the input, I have converted the motor to a 15 about 3 weeks ago and gained several 100 RPM (about 500 to be exact) and about 3mph with the conversion just figured it would be a little more, which i am happy about, just not happy that the RPM's are at the low end of the range...

    Question about props and RPM

ok not to bring up an old topic but I have a question that I cannot seem to be sure of. I think I need to go down a pitch on my prop. I am running 5450 RPM at WOT with just me in the boat at around 18.5mph and around 5200 with another person in the boat. I have a 1987 Johnson 9.9 with a 15hp...
