Has anyone installed a kill switch for trolling motor?

The circuit breaker serves pretty much the same purpose as a fuse. If you were to use my idea of a fuse for a kill switch, just go up to a 60 amp fuse so if there is an issue with the wiring the breaker will trip before the fuse.

Has anyone installed a kill switch for trolling motor?

What about rigging a tether to a blade fuse and securing the holder to the boat somehow? You fall overboard and the tether pulls the fuse out. Just use a fuse rated for the motor and it could kill 2 birds with 1 stone.

    Jon boat plans

Try glen-l boat plans. They have some aluminum designs. Working from a plan from a naval architect is the way to go, especially if you want it to plane out and be safe. They know where it needs support and such. Any way you go, I for one am really interested in seeing what you make.

Looks like the rounds for an underwater assault rifle.

    gas tanks

Yes, but they still draw in air as the fuel is pulled out the same as the old ones(so long as you open the vent). They just have a one way valve in the cap that won't allow fuel vapor to escape into the atmosphere unless the pressure inside the tank exceeds 5psi. What is the problem you are...

    gas tanks

I just downloaded the owners manual for a 9.8 from Tohatsu motors and it looked straightforward to me. Unscrew vent, plug in connector, pump the bulb and start it. What part is confusing you or did I miss something?

Do I really need a winch?

I didn't think of that, I had always used a winch to load and this was the first time I didn't. It was just much quicker and easier to pull it on with the rope so that's why I was asking. To answer what I mean about it being a pain, the winch on this trailer has a very long handle and a low...

Do I really need a winch?

I have a 14' StarCraft semi v that fully loaded weighs maybe 500#. The winch I have is a pain to use so last time out I just pulled it on the trailer with a rope then hooked it to the winch. Can I do without the winch all together and just use a ratchet strap to tie the bow down?

1967 Wards Sea King 12 ft. Aluminum V-Bottom - drain plug

the plug I was looking at was #2598K28, 302SS plate with brass lever. It is just over $5 in the catalog I have. An all stainless one would be #9191T38 and that one is just over $10. It doesn't take much to form the seal, if you bent the lever it was definitely cranked down too much(either the...

1967 Wards Sea King 12 ft. Aluminum V-Bottom - drain plug

Try the 3/4" one again but turn the handle until it's snug before snapping it down. If that doesn't work, you should be able to find test plugs that will fit with a T handle that you turn to tighten. Try a plumbing supply shop or maybe a pool store. If not, industrial suppliers like...

Old Smoker Craft - year/model needed for registration...

If you just need a model and year for registration, how about using S12 like sawmill said and making up a year like say 1965? I understand wanting to be accurate but if you just want to get it on the water then that should work.

    non skid

If you seal the wood good enough you should have no problems hosing it off after a day of fishing so long as you're not letting the water pool up on it for weeks at a clip. Use any good exterior paint and primer paying particular attention to the edges(I prefer oil based but for plywood latex...

    Launch Fee

I have to remember to avoid Hopatcong. Most of the ramps for Raritan bay are $20-$25 but that's for the day, not each time you are physically on the ramp.

    simple transom replacement question

I am in the process of replacing my transom and I was wondering if I should use something to bed the wood to the aluminum? If so, any suggestions on what to use?

    removable deck?

Has anyone made a removable casting deck? My kids like going on the boat so I would like to keep the benches for them but I would like to have a deck for when I'm by myself. I was thinking of doing something similar to dzus fasteners to hold it in place(I would have to make my own though since...

What about getting a cheap carpet runner and laying it down over the rocks? I've seen that done before and it worked pretty good.

    flotation foam

Thanks for the advice, I didn't think about leaving "breathing" space. I'll save the pourable foam for compartments and just use sheeting under the floor.

    flotation foam

I have a bunch of 2 part closed cell foam and I was wondering if there's any reason I shouldn't pour it under the floor after I prime and paint? I figure it should deaden some noise as well as allow for thinner plywood for the floor.
