im new to this fourum but so far its awsome!

i have recently bought a 10ft alumacraft brand new. i took it out once and everything was fine.but i had one problem with storage. ive only put gear on it that i have to have, and its still preaty cramed. i was wondering what i could do to fix this, my idea is to cut a hatch on the side of a seat and cut out all of the foam and then use it for storage.
is that a good idea or should i do somthin else?

any ideas would be helpful and apreciated!

You can cut out the side, but I would recommend cutting out the top and then using a 3/4 piece of plywood as the bench seat. You can check out how I did my Alumacraft 1236 in the boat mod section. Take all the foam out as well.

Reason I would not cut out the side is because you'll end up trying to stuff a lot of tackle in there (even though you don't think you will) and it will end up coming out in the floor. The foam is a lot easier to get out by taking it out of the top as well.

Welcome to the site

yea i thought about that at first but the hole would have to kinda big and i dont want to have t sit on that. but i guess i can just put a cushion over that.
i think thats what im gona go with thanks!

I cut out the whole top of my bench and left about an inch for the 3/4" carpeted ply to rest on. It's plenty sturdy as I stand on that a lot to pitch from... I have 3 lids on top - 2 on each side for each battery, then one large in the middle where I keep all my tackle. Make sure you turn the lids so that they open from the rear of the boat - I screwed up this way and found out going down the road for my maiden voyage - I looked in the rearview mirror and saw all 3 lids pop open as I hit 55mph on the on-ramp to the interstate!

take a look here, this is what I did and it worx great.
