Hey guys,

I got a question....hopefully somebody has an answer. I got my 12ft jon boat ready for a wooden casting deck to be put on. I'm using 2x2'' wood for the frame and then going to put plywood on top with a carpet in the near future. I just want to know if that will be ok as far as how the boat will float. I don't think I'm using too much wood and plywood. I also want to put a swivel seat on top of the aluminum bench seat. I'm just concerned about 1. making the boat too heavy and 2. making it too top heavy with the swivel seat. Anybody do this kind of mod with a small jon boat before? Any suggestions? Photos? Thanks guys.

A casting deck on a 12' jon might be a little too unstable depending on the height it is put at. Before going too far on the project I would take the boat out on the water and try standing up at the level I planned on putting the deck. This will give you an idea of how stable the boat will be.
