Hello all. I know there have been topics on this, but I can't find the info I need.

I have two battery jumper cables that I want to use to extend my battery cables to the bow of the boat. 9.9 hp electric start Merc on one battery, and a Minn Kota troller on the other.

What the best (and safest) way to connect the extension wires to each other?

Thanks in advance.

Bob

I don't remember the correct name but there is a set screw splicer that you put the ends of the cable into tighten the set screws and cover the connector with the supplied shrink tubing.
Possibly there is a compression type too.

Most replacement TM plugs that attach to the end of the TM power cord use HD butt splices and I've never had a connection/power issue but it would be much safer to just install all new wire with no splices since these wires carry heavy current/amps.

Thanks for the responses. I will govern myself accordingly.

Regards,

Bob
