Stop......do not use pressure treated on your boat. The chemicals don't play nice with aluminum.

The copper in the current manufacture pressure treated lumber will corrode you aluminum. You can use exterior plywood and coat it with Spar Urethane to make it much more water resistant.

thanks for tips, yet before mounting transom it was treated with urethane via rattle can. between that and the lining in the deck i feel she will be right as rain

I know I'm new to the site, but I'd listen to the guys saying not to use pressure treated wood on your boat! Why risk ruining your boat for a few dollars worth of wood?

ok so here goes battery box

This!

"...treated with urethane..." Make sure it is SPAR urethane (since you didn't specify  ). Regular polyurethane will break down and start flaking in just a few months due to UV light degradation.

+2 on not using the PT plywood. Well-coated exterior or marine plywood will last multiple decades.

i wasnt meaning to offend anyone with keeping what i had. yet after several comments about PT plywood it has been changed. Yes it was Spar Urethane as advised.
i should be getting Motor today so i should have it mounted in a day and have pics up...

Even marine varnish will eventually degrade from UV exposure. The big boat guys with lots of wood have to redo(complete stripping) their varnish after a couple of years, even with light sanding and recoating. A better method is to coat it with marine epoxy such as West System. Painting over the epoxy will allow it to hold up a very long time with very little maintainence. A collegue who does wood repairs and restorations on boats uses the epoxy method and gets zero customer complaints.

i have decided to relocate battery and gas tank, to offset weight and there isnt enough room at stern......
any ideas??

What will you need to power up? You may not need a big battery. I put a 12 gallon tank up front under a small deck.
