Ok guys. I am totally new here. I have been reading this site for about 4 moths and decided to give it a go at customizing a boat. I found a 16' V-hull boat with a trailer and 35 HP Mercury for $300. I thought it was a steal myself. I have been working on it this last week (as you can see in the pictures below) and I think I am ready for the inside modifications. I still have some minor touch ups on the trailer and outside of the boat. I know most on here don't like the Herculiner on the outside but I went with it due to some people around here who have loved it and the fact that I didn't want to wait on ordering the steel flex. I might take some heat for painting the boat flat black but I thought it turned out well and I am usually not fishing at high noon when it is 95+ outside here in TN! I would like some input for the inside part. I have bought marine grade 3/4 plywood and some 2x4's for bracing. I have also bought some marine grade sealer for all wood to be used as well as some grey carpet for the inside. I am kind of lost as to how I should build the bottom frame for the floor. I have seen people on here angle their 2x4's so that they lay width wise but I am afraid that might put some pressure on the outside walls? I have already removed the middle bench to make an open floor area. I am hoping to build a live well on one side of the boat and storage on the other side. Any help or comments would be greatly appreciated!

Have been working on the boat when I can. I have some new pics to upload. Had to change some of my design ideas due to my limited carpenter skills and the fact that obviously in a V-bottom boat there is not a straight line cut for anything! Feel free to make suggestions or give some ideas.

I have started painting the inside. Rookie mistake led me to complete all the carpet before painting so now I am struggling to keep the paint off the edges. You guys definitely make this whole process look easier than it is! Hope to finish the interior painting and then add some seats. Trolling motor that came with it seems to have a short in it so I will be replacing it. I am also trying to figure out what is going on with the motor. 35 HP Mercury (Year?) doesn't want to crank. I am by no means a marine mechanic at all. I'll attach a picture just in case someone has had one or knows some about it.

I also successfully made me a live well from a cooler. Probably too much pump for what I need but it works well. Here is a youtube link:
