Excited to have a boat, with a single income family of four it means owning a boat is a luxury. A family friend passed this on to me and I’ve been slowly working on it at night or early morning on the weekends.

Everything seems in good shape for 35 years old, the transom was rotted and just replaced this afternoon. The motor just needed some new grease and gear oil. It could use a new fuel connector but I have the fuel line hooked up to the fuel pump for the short term.

1/ I have a 12v 38lb trolling motor so I’m reading about electronics and batteries. Hoping to make it easily removable. Navigation lights too.
2/ Getting new seats put in, flat floor would be nice.
3/ I’m trying to figure out a couple hatches to store ropes, maybe snacks or drinks for the kids.

In the mean time, learning lot’s in the forum and here are some before shots. Trailer looks rough but it is solid.

I live in an area with a ton of lakes, some big water so I’m saving my pennies for a sonar unit with mapping. Any budget suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to TinBoats!

Budget conscious sonar with mapping. Guys are upgrading all the time. I would keep my eyes open for used units. And, get the word out here on TinBoats you are looking for one. There should be some pretty good deals. I think you will be fine if you stick with any of the mainstream companies like Garmin, Lowrance, or Humminbird.
