Hey Guys,
New to the JON boat scene. Bought my first one. it's a 1436L Crestliner. It's a clean slate but i intend on doing the following;

front casting deck doubling as a storage for the anchor
front of casting deck will house the radio and 2 speakers
middle side rails. (going to make 8" side rails in between the middle bench and up into the casting deck)
rear nav light, bow light, radio, courtesy lights (2 in front, 2 in middle and 2 rear) all wired to a marine toggle board with fuses on separate battery)
a few cup holders and rod holders
went inexpensive on the swivel seats, using the clamp on method
carpeting the benches as well as the floor and side rails

that should keep me more than busy to start!

like i said it's a new boat, and i'm good with wiring, i'll be sure to post some step by step of my process but i get carried away sometime and i'm very very picky and particular of my work.

Glad to get such great ideas from you all on here already...

BTW.. this boat will be used for the 3 electric only lakes near me.. but not against a 9.9 to run it on the Susky ;)

can someone PM me the best way to resize pictures? i tried loading them off my photobucket but they are too large.. i guess i could resize in paintbrush.. IF i had time lol.. pictures coming tonight.. 97 degrees today and 101 tomorrow.. no fishing til sunday :)
GET TO WORK ON THE BOAT

here is the before with most of the supplies sitting near where they go or basically piled up in the boat

coated the wood with UV flood (spelling?) and then wrapped with the outdoor carpet.. Only got the front and rear bench done so far. Had to take it fishing last night :)

Sorry i'm not as fast as doing things and posting pictures. Kind of new to this forum and i greatly appreciate your comments and patience.. Up next. Middle of the floor as well as the front floor..

Plans are to extend the shelf out from the bow and make the front deck.. Then create about a 6-10" rail on each side where i can put my courtesy lights as well as speakers for my stereo. Also housing a fishfinder (bought at a later date) If i can make a rough sketch i'll try to post it but for now thats all you get!

(I'll try to post more step by step pics from now on)

Going to be working on the boat (has yet to be named) after work. I plan on getting the angle aluminum for the front deck, carpeting the floor that i laid directly on the ribs (i'll post a pic of that tonight)

my question is this... I know that PT wood is a no no with aluminum, but what if i have it wrapped in the outdoor carpet, and have it resting on the front and rear bench, essentially not coming into contact "directly" with the metal.. reason i put it in quotes is because i'm wondering if it will absorb through the carpet onto the aluminum...

Am i better off taking it back and getting a 2x6 UNTREATED and CWP-Flood coat it?

Thanks in advance, ill post pics tonight

Spangler,

I would stay away from PT completely. What are you using 2x6s for? That seems like a ton of weight to be adding to a 1436. I'm using 2x3s on my build and it's plenty strong enough.

I resize my photos in paint and then post them in here... seems to work well.

I look forward to seeing more,
Doubles

im using (1) 2x6 to lay on the mid bench to the back bench, then making a panel that goes straight to the floor out of 1/2" plywood.. the ply will be on two hinges where it meets the floor and will open towards the middle of the boat like a book.. i will use the "side rail" as storage, as well as mounting a rod holder and extras to it. its hard to explain ill post more tonight lol

You can resize it in the Photobucket Image editor. Try it out. If you don't know what I'm talking about just start messing around on Photobucket until you are able to find it.

Here is the boat with my front floor, mid floor all cut out with the front bench wrapped

Not quite finished with this but this is as far as i got tonight. Need to brace the bottom and 2 angle parts to connect the outside bottom legs to the angle aluminum cross brace. I used 3/4 x 1" x 1" and used stainless steel 1/2 bolts with locking washer and nut. The bottom 3 legs will sit flush with the bottom of the boat.
The front floor will be wrapped in carpet and have a angled aluminum screwed into the floor and the legs to add the support im looking for.
I also used the same SS bolts with washer and nut where the braces lock into the bow.. lets just say it was not easy. (i plan on spraying foam up underneath where i removed to fit a wrench)

This is as far as i got last night.. Sealed and wrapped the front floor that goes in front of the deck.. Slowly but surely it's coming along how ive planned! Critics always welcome!
