It turns out they are cast aluminum, and I broke one into pieces when trying to re-install it over my new aluminu angle transom cap. Turns out, its about 3/8" thicker than the old transom. So, I took some spare aluminum sheet and cut a shape out of it with the cutoff wheel...not easy when you need to cut a radius. But, I was able to attach it and bend it over the new cap. I think it looks pretty good.
