I have 1/8" aluminum sheets i am doing my deck out of and the question is what do i need to do to get my carpet to stay...will regular carpet glue hold it down...im going to overlap it 2 inches on the bottom side so when i screw it down it will wedge between my deck and my frame

I think you can use that glue from Lowes... Henry 663 or something like that

I think I would use contact spray glue though... I can't think of the name, but I would much rather deal with that later down the road when I had to replace the carpet than trying to get that goopy glue off

My aluminum floor was already installed but I just cut the carpet to match the outline of the floor and then put a couple strips of double sided outdoor carpet tape down in the middle of the carpet and then used sheet metal screws with a built in washer around the perimeter in a few places. That way when I want to change the carpet in a couple years I don't have any glue to deal with. Probably would have been ok without the tape but just didn't want it riding up in the middle over time.

well the boat stays in the garage unless its on the water...so the carpet should last a good while...im more going for the glue just dont know if the regular carpet glue would stick

the Henry 663 is for outdoor use... and believe me - it will stick
Yep, sure will. One thing though, if your aluminum has visible oxidation on it, wire brush it off. I found that it didn't stick to the heavy oxidation (my aluminum had been sitting at the bottom of an unventilated stack outside for months), but when I ran the wire brush on the angle grinder over it, I am not sure I could get it off it I tried.
