battery chargers

hello, im in the process of rebuilding a 14ft alumicraft my wife got me while i was deployed to afghanistan. I keep getting told to use a battery charger. My question is do I need one. I have an old 1959 evinrude lark 35hp and the basic livewell / baitwell setup and a trolling motor but I have never used a battery charger on any of my previous boats. I want to build this one right and solid. I will be putting pics up as they come but im a Military Police Officer and have to work alot. Any information or help would be GREATLY appreciated. You need a battery charger for a battery that is not charged by the gas motors alternator (If it has one).

Boat motors with a electric starter shoulld charge it's own battery but it would be a good thing to have a charger on hand. Marine batteries require a slow charge so you don't need anything that puts out more then 12 -14 volt 6 amp charger. You can also use it on you're car motor bike and riding mower..

I just got back from deployment and installed a battery charger on my boat and love it! makes life easier. plain and simple. if you fish everyday this is a must.

yeah i will probably get one... i have a 1959 evinrude lark 35hp on a 14ft alumicraft. it has the electric and pull start options. i got the boat motor trailer, troll motor and fisgfinder for $1000.00 not bad but not great either. i will post as it comes along

definitely get the charger if you plan on using the trolling motor a lot you will need it.
if you get an on board charger just plug it in when you get home and your good to go.
