Well I have had my boat 3 weeks now and I have already put 2 holes in it. I run a jet and some rocks are just invisible. Anyway, what is the best product to fix these holes. They are very small, about 1/4 inch in diameter. From what I have read, using a silicone sealant with a rivet is a good fix. Agreed?? I would rather go the JB weld route, since I could do the repair quickly and easily. Should I use JB Waterweld, or the JB marineweld?? I am sure tig welding would be the absolute best, but I am I looking for other options. Thanks

I don't like putting band-aid repairs on anything, but I certainly would not do it on a river jet, given that it will be running into things on a regular basis. I just can't see any of those patches holding up once you start bouncing into rocks again. If you can drill the hole out round, I'd try the rivet first, but rocks are just going to tear up almost anything you run into them, snagging another rock in just the right spot on the existing hole could grab it and open up a good tear in it.

What river are you running?

I am running all the rivers in the northern portion of Georgia (right by you bassboy) including the Coosa, Etowah, Oostanala, Coosawatte, Chattahoochee... you get the picture. I do realize that all of my solutions were quick fixes, but what do you think is the best. If it were up to me I would put plastic on the bottom and stop worrying about it, but I cannot afford that right now.

Bassboy : You seem to be the resident expert on all things boat or trailer, if you don't mind checking out my post in the trailer section, I have just uncovered a problem and I think you might be able to help.
