Anyone have any experience using these? Are they worth the $?

I really like the look and feel of these guys.

The reason I like the blue is they will match my Bluewater LED package I got for my birthday 8)

I guess they will be bright enough in sunlight? Anyway, I could use some guidance. Based on my accessories, I'm trying to make sure I get what I need. For example: I think I want one of the switches to be a 2 way so that I can have my navigation lights on at the same time as my anchor light, or one at at time. Is this right? Is there a reason I would want them on seperate switches?

For the accessories, I'm going to have:

(1) Bilge Pump
(1) Livewell Pump ~ In
(1) Livewell Pump ~ Recirculate/Drain
(1) Nav Lights ~ bow
(1) Anchor Light ~ stern
(1) Bluewater LED Boat Package
(2) Sonars: Any reason to put these on a switch?
(1) Radio ~ maybe. Any reason to put this on a switch?

What am I forgetting???

I use the contura switches from Genuinedealz.com exclusively. Not so much because they are a better switch (well, I think the contura switches are a better switch than other styles), but because I have always had excellent service and free shipping from them. Haven't had the first problem with them.

I've always gotten the red (possibly because it is the first one listed on the site, and I have no other criteria when choosing  ), but they do have blue, too. However, any other brand you choose is probably going to be near identical inside. The same Chinese 10 year old probably makes all of them.

I also recently started to get the mounting panels for them. They look very professional, and I can't make a halfway decent backing panel for what these cost.

Even if you got another brand, they'd probably still fit in the same panel.

I generally throw my bow light/anchor light on the same switch. I know technically they should be separate, but even when I'm not moving, I'm still adrift/on the trolling motor, so I just leave them all on. Instead of getting a double pole switch, I run them both through a single. The amp draw of both lights is well within the capacities of the switch.

Or, instead of a double pole, you could get a double throw switch, which gives you On-Off-On, where you could have the first on be just the anchor light, and the second be both, and have it all controlled on the same switch. Same deal with the livewell fill and recirculate pumps. Both could be controlled individually with the same switch. Not only does it remove a couple switches from your panel, making it less bulky, a double throw switch is a few bucks cheaper than 2 single throw switches.

I've never seen a reason to put the sonar or radio on a switch. If you are worried about them slowly pulling down a battery in storage, I'd rather have a one of those battery shut off switches, so you can turn everything off, rather than everything switched individually.

Your bow and anchor lights should always be on together - moving or stopped!

Thanks for the great info BassBoy - when are you going to head North to work on my boat [-o<

Aww heck, we are having a Yankee heat wave right now - almost 35* this afternoon.

Ever build and ice boat?

It seems the regulations read differently: The anchor light is an all-around light that must be visible for 2 miles in any direction. No other navigation lights should be on while at anchor.

This is also what I see on the lakes here. Seems to me, it allows the opportunity for you to recognize whether or not a boat is underway or not.

bassboy,
What are you doing to label the switches? The one I have pictured above allows for a little decal (already made) to be put in the square light that shows a graphic.

One's on the left, one's in the middle, one's on the right. Keeps them differentiated fairly well.

Post up a link to those you pictured. If the price isn't much different, I'll start using them with labels.

Shoot, we've had snow on the ground since Monday. Classes have been canceled due to frozen roads for the entire week. When does the plane take off?

Yeah, I'm not sure I see the value or not yet.

This electrical stuff confuses me to no end. So many pieces/parts to think about.
