Dehli 1430-12 jon boat

Ok. So I am totally new to all of this. I found a 12 foot Dehli jon boat online for cheap and decided to turn it into a project for my son and I. I am a big dude (6'3" 250lbs) so I don't want to build a high deck on it. I looked around this site for a couple of days and found some great ideas. I really liked what ohiolunker did with his 12 foot mod so I will be doing a lot of similar things. Here are some pictures of the beauty on day 1.

Ordered my Steelflex today. Got the bottom sanded and the floor deck cut. Bought a foam board from Lowes to go under it. Slowly but surely.

...To prevent that {gasoline from dissolving your foam should it spill} happening, a coat of latex "porch & deck paint" will keep fuel spillage from dissolving your closed-cell foam...

Make sure you do this after you've got the foam shaped!!!

Oh - and make sure the foam is Extruded Polystyrene...not any of the other stuff they carry...

The few ribs your boat has don't go up the sides so the seats are all the support the sides of the hull have. I hope your adding in a lot of bracing?

Thanks for that tip. I will make sure that I add some bracing. I will post some more pictures this weekend and maybe you can give me some advice as to whether it is enough.

I've been out of the loop for a while. My beautiful daughter was born on Monday and I have been focusing on other projects in preparation for that. I should be able to get the Dehli done this week as I am off of work all week. (Lets see what the wife says about that!) I will post more pictures today or tomorrow.
