Evinrude 6hp fisherman help?

I just picked up a evinrude 6hp fisherman the other day for 100.00. The shifter has been broak and has Ben modified. I would like to find a new shifter handle for it and fix it back right. I wants to kick out of F gear at full throttle. I believe it has to do with the shifter being modified. And I would like to change it over to a short shaft of any one know how that can be done.

If it's jumping out of gear it may be a worn shifter dog in the gearcase. I think you posted before about converting to short shaft. It can be done. You will need a short driveshaft and possibly short shifter and water tube. I think some models had extensions instead of completely different parts. It would also be a good time to inspect the water pump and gearcase seals while it's apart. You could probably sell the longshaft parts on ebay. I paid $80 for the parts when I converted mine.
