Well... we tried - everything we had in the box. Ended up coming back to the same producers in the same color. If it was green - they would bite it, just not all the time. All fish came in spurts, and they were seldom spurts throughout the day. Started around 6:15 and fished til 2:15 or so... tried topwater out first thing in the morning with no results.
I switched off to a senko wacky rigged, and landed one about the same size as the senko -

Had another a little bit later (3 hours to be exact)

I think I caught another on a lizard, but I must not have taken a picture... But Poolie pulled out the biggest of the day - maybe a whole 1.25 lbs (hopefully I'm not exagerrating, but it was a good 13")

I had one right after this too, and it was a little bigger, but I lost him at the boat - I should have set the hook a second time because he hit it on the fall and I set it on slack line... but I though I had him the way he was pulling...

Here's a few more - and we both caught the magic limbs... mine started running just like a fish - but it didn't measure up the one Poolie brought to the boat. I took pics of them too, but they didn't show up on my phone for some reason...

Man... that poolie guy's legs look awful red in that last picture. From the knees up they're feeling a wee bit burnt today too

The morning looked just perfect for putting a pile of them in the boat, but just wasn't to be. On the bright side it didn't appear that anyone else on the lake did any better than we did. We were the second boat to launch and I believe the last to come back in.

Russ' boat is killer!

Way to get out there, slinky little bass weren't they.

I tell ya... having only caught large mouth bass my whole life, I still giggle a little when I catch a spot. To their credit, there's a lot of fight in those little packages.

ok.. here are the big "moose horn" pics... if only they had been fish, but dang if they didn't fight and run around like some hawgs

here is mine

GET THE NET.....

Forgot to mention a little about this place we were fishing...

Water temp at 6:15am was 86*... it was over 90* by the time we left. We never picked up a really good pattern until the end of the day - and it was really a pattern within a pattern. We found out they were sitting on slight dropoffs in about 10' of water. But they wouldn't bite if we cast right to them. It was almost like we had to cast to the bank under the trees, then pull texas rigged plastics back to them before they would ever take it. Green pumpkin was the main color of the day, but Poolie did pull one out on a watermelon seed at the end of the day.

There was one place I wanted to try, but we never got around to fishing it... I think that rip rap might have been good, but I saw guys fishing it with no success and they left pretty soon after they got there. But, we fished the heck out of the places we felt they should be hiding and they were. I think we are going to have to target a little deeper water next time for the bigguns to bite. And, I wish I would have stuck with that carolina rig a little more than what I did. But my tail end was braid and I wish I would have had mono on there... that's the main reason I didn't use it that much.

Looks very similiar to my recent bass outings. Sticks and smaller bass.

At least it looks like you had a good weather day on the water.

Pullage is pullage :) Thanks for the report and pics Russ ;)
WTG on the Fish Poolie & Russ !

Russ, BassBoy and Brine are out on the lake together today, hopefully having a great time. I couldn't swing getting off so wasn't able to make it.

Can't wait to hear about what I missed.

Actually, I had to stay home from that one as well. Instead, I was working. Boy is that fun.

Bassboy/Poolie,

Sorry I didn't get to meet you guys yet. We need to plan something again soon. You guys pick a date and let me know.

Russ and I ended up going to two lakes over by me. One in the morning (which inconveniently didn't get the gates unlocked till close to 7:30 am! ) Russ and I were there at 6am. We caught a bunch of smaller fish in the am, but couldn't find anything big, so went to Waffle House for lunch, then headed to lake #2 around 2pm. It started off slow, but we found some fish later in the day. I took a few pics with Russ's camera, so I'm sure he'll post a couple (or 1 in particular  ) Sunday night or Monday.

Brine, hope you're having a great 4th. A little bird told me about the trip yesterday. I've got to get on Google Earth and find out where the second lake you guys fished is located. Obviously a good day was had. Wish I could have been there.

Yea, lets plan something soon.

You too Poolie thanks.

Althought the size of the fish were bigger at the second lake this time, the first lake has more 5# bass/acre in it than any lake I fish. It's a great summertime lake once the grass greens up and you can locate the bigger fish.

You guys pick a day and let me know.

Brine

I'll post a few pics Tomorrow night or Monday. I did doctor up the pics Brine so you're spots would be hidden.
