I want to rewire the boat and I bought a 6 curcuit Blue Sea fuse panel. Now I can't decide where to place it. The boat is open behind the rear seat. The battery is in the bow on the port side.

I was thinking that the area between the rear seat and the transom would be a damp area, and could cause corrosion over time.

My other thought is to build a panel infront of the rear seat between the seat and the brace which is about 10"x 20" and put the fuse panel behind it and then put the switches and volt meter on the panel with a hinge so it opens for access.

Open to suggestions but I would prefer to keep it close to the battery and the gas tank is in the front compartment.

I have also had thoughts of closing in the rear, it gives a clean look in my opinion.

Thanks

Ideally, it is at a spot you can reach while operating the main motor, and somewhat sheltered from the rain. Most of the budget panels are not that waterproof. If you still have choices, then comes down to convience vs wire length runs.

mount most of the switches within reach of the seat where you will do most of your fishing.
Mount the Nav light switch and bilge within reach of the seat where you operate the main motor.
For me, that was all at the back of the boat.

I decided to mount the fuse panel in the back by the battery, I will probably cover the area between the rear seat and the transom as I loke that look. All the switches are on the starboard side, for now they are in a make shift panel. I want to make like a console on that side which will have the switches, the volt meter, power plug and a place to set a drink. I'm going to mock this up wit cardboard to see if that is reall what I want. It sounds and looks good in my head. ;)
