So i've decided to put an aluminum floor in my boat. I have bought a scrap piece 1/8'' thick at a scrap metal place but it was just big enough to do the back section of my boat. I need another piece about 48''X52'' to finish the floor. So i need more and i cant find it anywhere for a reasonable price. So i found a 4X10 sheet of 1/16 thick for $50. Would it be a bad idea to cut it and double it and use it as a floor. That would make it 1/8 '' thick. Has anyone tried this? THANKS

That may work, as long as it is fastened down well. You just have to worry about the metal popping when you walk on it if it isn't fastened down correctly. Worth a try

I don't see why not, I'm not sure what the best thing to use would be, but I would use some kind of glue or adhesive between the sheets to eliminate any noise or movement caused by it being two sheets. I would make sure to run beads down the lines where you are fastening it to whatever your floor supports are, just like gluing and nailing a floor for a house to prevent a squeaky floor. $0.02
