horsepower question

I am re-rigging my Crestliner Fishhawk 1600 SC. Not by choice...it was stolen and stripped. Boat recovered, but the 50 hp Honda, controls and console are gone. We like the open floor, so I am looking to switch to a tiller motor. Of course money is an issue...

Mostly I fish highland reservoirs, occasionally the Sacramento Delta. No need to be a speed demon, just want to stay out of the bass blasters way. What is the smallest tiller motor you would put on this boat?

What's it rated for? Always best to max out the power or atleast get pretty close.

You have the advantage of already having a 50hp on it so that should tell you a lot. I would not go any smaller than a 50hp on a 1050 lb boat. Most boats are rated for less hp when configured as a tiller. I hope someone caught the scum who stole your boat. Hopefully insurance helps you with the loss.
