I have a 9.9 shortshaft that I want to put on my 17' Lowe which already has a 70 HP. I can put it on the transom but it is not low enough and it bogs out. I am thinking about this bracket from cabela's https://www.marinetech.info/pmarine/pmarine_detail.php?sku=550010

Any other recommendations you have? Thanks in advance. Paul

My searches have come to conclude that most kicker mounts are sorrily underbuilt. I wouldn't put a 9.9 on anything smaller than a mount made for a 25, if trailering. Most of those mounts are made for sailboats, where they will not see the stress of a trailered boat. On the package, when you get it, I bet you will see a warning where it tells you to remove the engine when trailering.

I made my own mount. A little 3/8 and 1/2 aluminum plate and some 1/4 inch bolts solved my issue. Here's the link.
