Whats the largest motor i could go on my 1232. is a 9.9 to much? It says 6 on the plate but well ya know how that goes.

found a 15 marked as a 9.6 , wonder how much trouble that would be?

I would go for it.

I would consider the engines weight ratings.If the 9.9 isn't much heavier than the 6 called for,I'd do it.Just be careful with the throttle.To much thrust will drive the back of the boat into the water or flip it over.Maybe a pro with less bite.Could give a higher top speed.

I'm running a 7.5 on my 1232, it does pretty good, but if I find the right deal on a 15hp, you can bet it's going on her... LOL

i have a 1232 with a 1990 johnson 9.9 with a reinforced transom and a mini-jacker. let me tell u something this setup move's veryyyyy nice, it has a great hole shot, top speed, and handle's great . in other words yes i would do it lol
