I have a G3 pro 175. Just bought HDS 7 with LSS 2 transducer. Seems to work fair. Bottom and water column are pretty clear but would like more detail on structure. Also, I mounted on starboard side at bottom of transom. It throws a huge rooster tail. Is this going to hurt anything?

It is mounted too deep. That is why you are getting the rooster tail. What do you mean by detail on structure? If your view of the bottom is good, your view of the structure should be as well. Are you running the unit on auto or manual? Never run it on auto if you want superior performance from the unit.

Thanks it is at the bottom of transom. How much should I raise it? Will raising it cause interference ? On the detail for example I drove by a concrete water tower and could see it but couldn't make out the concrete blocks. Not nearly as clear as other pics I have seen online. I am running auto mode with 455. Have only had it out one time so I am learning. Thanks for your help

to get the best detail with the side scan your speed needs to be around 2.2 mph so you want to mount your LSS ducer so it is below the water line while at a slow speed. Mine is mounted on my jack plate and is out of the water while I am running
