Micro Power Pole Mounting?

I just acquired a Micro Power Pole from a friend who removed it from his Kyak; which I intend to mount on my Topper 1236 Jon Boat. If you have installed one on a similar size boat did you bolt it to the transom or use the clamp mounting bracket?...pic's would be great!

Well I did make a decision , purchased the clamp mounting bracket; this will enable the unit to be used on either the 18.5 or 1236.
