First of all, let me say this is an awesome forum....there is a lot of talent out there. Today is my first day to post and I will start off with a question. Obviously this will be my first boat mod. I am planning on a semi V, CC, Duck/white bass chasing rig. I have found a 80' model 17' MONARK with Trailer and no motor. I will be going to see it tomorrow. It appears to be a solid and straight hull with a good transom. If that is the case and the trailer is road worthy, what would be a fair price in the rig? It has been gutted and is ready for work. I'll try to post a pic.

Thanks,

:WELCOME: to Tinboats! Nice s/n.

It's tough to price them as it varies a lot by region, esp an older tin. I've got a sweet spot for Monark/SeaArk boats. The major advantages is if it's an all welded boat, or riveted. If welded I'd add another $100-$300 to the price. Look at the braces that run port to starboard to see if and have splits or cracks which usually occur right in the middle. Check the rivets and seams for damage. Boats that are wider than 36" on the floor are worth more in value. (not the gunnels) That one is probably 42-48". Also paperwork is critical. Does your state require a title? Does the seller have current or past registration in their name? If not I wouldn't even drive to look. W/O these things you cannot run a motor on a public waterway.

For the hull on the low side I'd guess $200 and on the high side $500. Trailer condition; bad: 50-75, fair:75-150, good: 150-300, excellent:300-500 in value. If both in fair condition in a reasonable market $500. But it's tough to say with that picture, or if you are located around water where everyone owns a boat and there are many for sale..

I appreciate your guidance. I was thinking of offering $600 and with a ceiling of $800. He is asking $1200, which IMO is over priced.
