I own a 1989 8HP Yamaha and was looking to upgrade. A guy offered me his 1975 20 HP Chrysler straight up - said the motor runs great. I know Bassboy and some others really don't like Chrysler, so should I avoid doing this? I just don't think my 8 HP is going to move my 16 Mon Ark around that well, and the 20 HP would be a big improvement. So, I will need some pros and cons, can you help? Would you do it?

Personally,I would see if I could sell the outboard and look for one with the money made.
14 years older then what you have...anyways just an opinion.

Don't do that. Your Yamaha is a fine motor. Excellent motor, really. Those Chryslers, well, um, aren't. First time you have to buy parts for one, you will understand why.

A fine running 8 will get you places faster than a 20 that you have to constantly tinker with. Do as Zum suggested. Sell it outright, and buy what you really want.

Plus, even if you did have interest in the Chrysler, you are getting the short end of the stick with an even out trade. That Yamaha will sell for significantly more than that Chrysler.
