I have this disease where I can't stop myself from buying aluminum boats off Craigslist. If you look long and hard enough, there are tons of smoking good deals. Well, they usually LOOK like good deals .... you kind of take a chance, buy it, then figure out what you've gotten yourself into.

On Saturday I drove about an hour to get this 16' deep V with a 30 Johnson. I don't know the boat brand. The motor is a tiller with electric start. The trailer is nice and solid. It came with a brand new 44lb tiller trolling motor. The transom needs completely re-done and I've got my fingers crossed that the motor runs.

I got it all for $450.

I recently bought a MIG welder with a spoolgun for welding aluminum. When I find time, this will be my test case for doing an all aluminum build.

Don't hold your breath for updates though, this isn't a real priority right now.

Looks like a late 70`s-late 80`s starcraft seafarer ( metal seats, no wood tops). Regardless, nice boat at a smokin deal! The motor is probably worth the purchase price!! =D>

Change of plans for this boat .... a guy offered me $550 for just the boat and trailer, so I sold it.

And I'm supposed to sell the motor tonight for $500.

That's a profit of $600 for doing nothing but towing it home.

I'm happy about the money, but I actually felt bad seeing her leave ..... I was really looking forward to fixing this boat up. It was a great hull.

Oh well, I still have two boats and two motors sitting around to fiddle with.
