...just picked up a new battery from wally world can someone give me a step by step in how to take care of this battery and not burn this one up...it will be for my tm and fish finder on my little 12 ftr...thanks....i burnt my last one up.

Do not overcharge it. Get an automatic charger. That way you can't charge it for a whole week when it only needed twenty minutes of charge. That is one of the biggest problems with batteries. An automatic charger will shut itself off after the battery is fully charged.

also, never run it to the point of being or otherwise allow it to go completely dead.

they will not take a full charge after that and you will burn them up trying to get them completely charged.

charge it as soon as you get home from the lake.
Leaving it in an uncharged state will shorten the life of your new battery.
Check the water level and fill as needed with distilled water

buy a cheap hydrometer (battery checker at wal-mart) about $1 and check the charge yourself after use and after charging. Some sensor (automatic) chargers will charge to about 75% then go to a slow charge. The meter on the charger may read that it has a full charge but it doesn't!
