Hey guys, I'm new here. Gotta say pretty impressive projects. I have a jon boat that I am going to convert. One question though. When you build these decks from plywood and you cut the holes for storage, you use the wood you cut out for lids, how do you keep the plywood from warping.

Thanks for joining. Once you have your wood cut, then you should coat it in several coats of sealer like spar varnish to protect it. As for the lids, its all about preference and budget. Creating your Plywood hatches allows you to make it whatever size floats your boat, where tempress hatches only come in certain sizes and can get expensive. Just make sure not to use Pressure Treated because it will cause a negative reaction on the aluminum. I'm some of the other guys will chip in and give their 2 cents worth too, this is just my 2 cents-

Hey Bobby.....welcome to the TinBoats family! We're happy to have you on board.

+1 with the Spar Urethane. It's good stuff and many of our members have used it with great success.

Don't forget to take pictures of your boat before, during and after your build. WE love to see pictures, and it always helps us answer questions better with pictures.

I'd also recommend you adding your location to your profile. Most likely, you'll be able to hook up with other members in your area and meet some great people. I sure have.

Good luck, and have fun!
