Bought a motor today. Needs a water pump, but other that that its good to go. Compression is 125 and 131psi. Think its a mid 80s model. I needed a 9.9 to satisfy the 10hp limit on the lake I grew up on back home. I was looking for a cheap motor to keep in the shop just for when I fish that lake. Even tho its not much of a looker, for $250 it was a good deal to me, and it fits the bill for what I needed. I love these little nissans. $250 wont buy very much of an outboard these days, but Im satisfied. The last nissan 9.9 I had pushed my 1448 quite well. :D

Good deal.
I picked up a early 80's 30 hp Tohatsu for $50. It's looks like yours but bigger and just plain UGLY.
I was cleaning it up and ended up breaking one of the plastic fuel fittings off the fuel pump. Looked up the part and it was around $75. OUCH!!!!
A guy on iboats told me that a Suzuki fuel pump might work. I just happened to have a 30 hp Suzuki that was blown and sure enough the pump was identical.
The $50 Tohatsu runs pretty good. Seems like it has lots of low end torque compared to my 25hp JohnnyRudes or even my running 30hp Suzuki that I sold  . Top end seemed to be 1 mph slower then my 25hp Johnnyrudes and a few mph slower then my Suzuki.

I got a Nissan 9.8hp on my 12' and it does a good job, it is a early 2000's model but it is a work horse for sure. I will probably let it go as soon as I can find a 15 or 20hp to put on it.
