That's very cool and brings back memories!

An old friend of mine just moved from here to Ocala and is settling in. He's a great fisherman - especially bass. Hard times and all.... He's trying to get up to speed.

Met him when we were in our early teens - which would be ~ 45 years ago.

He had a 14' plywood skiff with a '58 Johnson 7 1/2 hp that threw a rooster tail. I had a 12' dory with an Evinrude 5 1/2 hp.

We met in the middle of Salem Harbor [Massachusetts] and have stayed friends ever since.

I too wish I had the skills and knowledge to do that. That fella does some nice work. =D>

Those old motors from your childhood are bought and sold everyday. AOMCI.com, CL, and Ebay. The problem, I think, is finding a boat to match the motor. If you can restore/modify a boat, you can restore those old motors. I fixed and reassembled a 1940 Elto. Just need a tiller handle and a grommet to finish. Now 40 years ago I choose plumbing as a career...how smart do you think I am? LOL And the 1952 Seahorse is waiting to get on the workbench. I have no desire to do the cosmetics like that guy, but both will be 'wet' in a month or two.

GGoldy - The Florida Chapter of the AOMCI will have a great meet on the Suwanee River at the Yellow Jacket Campground, South of Old Town, in April.
You would enjoy it.

Ohhhh Pappy, I know I would! 8) I'll get to one of them sooner or later.
