HIi my name is Andy I have a 14 foot jon boat. I have no clue what year it is or what brand? I have had since i was 7 and i am almost 18. This jon boat has been through a lot it has had many mods put on and taken off. So far I like how i have it the only problem is the inside paint is pealing so i will have to fix that soon. I fish a lot and have just recently got involved in saltwater fishing. Its a blast their are so much more species of fish to catch. Dont get me wrong I love bass fishing and i have been doing it forever but its nice to have different species to catch. So back to my mod question I was wondering if I can put a poling Platform on my Jon Boat. It is 14 ft. Would it be to tipsy? I also would like some input on any other mods I can do to it.
Thanks, Andy
here it is

Welcome aboard - that looks like it has caught many, many fish!

I know nothing about poling platforms so cannot help there

welcome aboard i would say you could put a platform on it as far as mods take time and look through the post here they are alot of different ideals on here

Welcome

I have seen a poling platform on a ganoe (wish I had pictures). I can not tell you how stable that it will be, but here are a few pictures I found.

I don't think I would go as high as the pics above with a poling plat form.May be 6 inches above the engine. How wide is the bottom of your boat?If it's 36 inches,I don't I would add a poling plat form.If it's 42 inches or wider I would add a short one. Most of the boats I have seen with a poling plat form are usually 54 inches or wider.

DOOD! You had your own boat at 7, and have a bass bait named after you?!?!

lol, seriously :WELCOME: Don't think I'd be wild about adding a platform to that size a boat either. But, if you're in poling-depth water....it wouldn't take much diving to retrieve your gear

Welcome!

I don't think I'd use a platform on that size of boat either...but apparently some folks are OK with it on kayaks. I'd like to see this guy try this in a little bit of chop...hope the water's warm!
