Hello all you broke bastards ( we own boats or money pits. Lol) New to the forum so I figured I'd say hi and introduce myself and my boat. It's a project, but it's a boat I hunted for since I first saw a picture of one. Got this boat for free off Craigslist. Overall she is in good shape just needs everything. I'm a hot rudder from way back and a fabricator so there are a few things I want to do to the boat to make it mine and better in my opinion. Since I am new to the boating world I will have a lot of questions along the way.
The boat is a 1959 Lone Star Cruiseliner. She's 23 feet long all aluminum Hull. According to the title she weighs in at 1200#. Has a 115 mercury outboard. I have started disassembling, mostly just removing the rotten floor. Next will be the rotten transom. Have plans to make a modification to the splash well to make a walk thru to the transom. Anyway let me show a picture of the money pit. 20190725_235028.jpgView attachment 2
Thanks for looking and will love to converse with you and share more as the project unfolds.

Thats a sweet boat!
When you get tired of it, you can abandon it in Florida!
I'll give you my address!

Thank you yellowboat. Doubt I will ever get tired of it. My son is already making plans for when it's his someday.

Just needs a boot stripe & it will fit right in with the bling boats!

What's a boot stripe, and bling boot? I'm a boating virgin so a little ignorant of the terminology.

google: The Boot Stripe is a narrow stripe that runs the length of the boat and is usually positioned a few inches above the waterline. The stripe provides an aesthetic touch and creates an optical illusion that makes the boat appear to be longer.

Bling boat refers to the fancy wakeboard boats with big tower, underwater LEDs, megawatt stero you can hear from miles away.

Sorry for bad joke.

You have an awesome boat that takes me back to the 60s.

Ceder there is no bad jokes. I could never bring myself to own a bling boat. I would rather spend a small fortune on a old car or boat than look like everyone else. Lol

I'm just here pondering why you didn't load the boat and trailer onto the truck backwards rather than positioning its weight right at the back end of the truck. :?

There were a few factors as to why it got loaded that way. One that was the way it was facing in the side yard of former owners home. 2 we picked it up at 11 at night so for sake of noise grab and go. 3 whole boat with trailer only weighs 1600# so even though it looks like a lot on tail of truck really was a non issue.

Well, at least the upholstery has still got some life to it. :LOL2:

That really is a terrific boat. My Dad had a sedan style Lone Star that was very similar concept, but I think only 18'. That boat was a blast. We used to go camping on it. I hope you share progress.

Oh I plan to share all my progress. Can't wait to get it on the water.

Got some samples in for my deck material. Love it and it should work out beautiful. Both are pvc composite decking from two different companies. I personally like the look of the tongue and groove better. Plan is to put a light grey as the floor with the mahogany up the walls on exterior area. Full mahogany in the cabin for a somewhat rich elegant look. Give that 50's smoking parlor vibe.
