Greetings from the north shores of Lake Ontario. I bought my first boat a year ago and have been on this site but hadn’t registered as a member until just now. I have enjoyed the wealth of information and experience here. My 1970ish 14’ Starcraft Falcon is great in a big city with a small car and nowhere to park and nowhere affordable to keep a boat in the water. In Toronto there are 2 public boat launches and they’re always packed. Small boat for Lake Ontario but on a nice day my wife and I can take 2 friends out on the lake and around the Toronto Islands. We did our honeymoon last summer on the Trent Severn Waterway and learned a lot about boating in a week. An amazing trip that cost next to nothing. 50 horse Johnson from 1986 (with the hood and decals from a ‘77) runs pretty good but doesn’t like to start at random times. I’ve done a bit of work on her over the past year, rebuilt the carbs, new rectifier, installed some guages, took off the janky bow rails and put on a bimini top. Of course she leaks a bit so I’m going through the post on here.
