Noob here!!!

I just found this forum while doijng some online research to see whatt I need to do to restore an old 12ft aluminum Lund I just picked up, and VOILA!!! Here I am. I have to admit the internet is a wonderful thing. There is a forum, blog, message board, or all out online universe created for just about every single topic known to man. Still waiting for the home-made Manhatten Project website though. Can't seem to find one. haha

Anyway, I did a search and found one good topic on the use of 3M 5200 adhesive/sealant for sealing the seams on the bottom of an aluminum boat, which apparently works.. As a result, I do have another question that maybe you fella's can help me out with.

I plan on giving my little boat a good coat of Etching primer first, then a few coats of Professional Oil based Rustoleum. I don't want to spend a lot of money on paint, because it is a cheap old boat, but I do want to make it nice and servicable for my fishing needs.

So, If 3M 5200 will adhere and seal the seams, is it paintable say within about 24 hours when doing the Ol' Rustoleum paint job trick?

There are 2 types of 5200. The fast cure can probably be painted after 48hrs, the slow cure would take a week before you could paint it.
Welcome to the site!
