Can you guys recommend any particular oar locks for this boat? Is the round top rail a consideration when shopping for oar locks?

Thanks for the response. I will get some of those and give it a try.

Do you think 8' oars are a good idea for a 1448? Or a little shorter?

Edit: According to the guidance I found online, 8' is probably a good number. I sure don't know where I will find them just yet.

How often will you use the oars? I use one to ease away from shore into the deeper water so I don't start the motor in the sand. I have no intentions of rowing back to shore unless the motor quits so 6 foot long oars are good for me.

I think I used 7’ers on my 1648, and could have used the extra foot. When the 1648 was our main river boat, would do drift trips that we would go thru 4-5” of fast water. Needed the oars to keep the boat orientated, and not go sideways. Paddles don’t work for that. Need a shallow angle.

Have a pair of oars in the MirroCraft. Never had to use them even though the motor had a habit of quitting on me when first got it. If you have a good trolling motor and battery do you really need oars?
