I need a pair of 7 1/2' oars for my 12' tinny. Because oars usually go with a boat when it is sold, used ones are hard to find. New? fergit it. 50 each is the norm around here.
So I thought I would make a pair. If you have plans or know where I can find some please let me know.
I will check back here hoping for leads!

Watch CL for oars!

Oars are pretty simple to make but do require a bit of work. You might consider designing them yourself to suit your needs.

R. D. (Pete) Culler had some nice designs. https://www.riverswest.org/uploaded_images/pete_culler_oar_plans-%28Custom%29-734906.jpg

Spruce or Ash makes the best oars. Ash being a lot more capable of tollerating abuse but harder to work. Spruce being lighter and much easier to shape. Toughest part is finding suitable wood. Easiest way is to glue up from spruce 2X planks. Check out https://www.instantboats.com/oarmaking.htm

Do a bit of googling free oar plans
