Thank you for the compliment. Santa (my wife :) ) got me a Nikon D3000. A fella I know provided the link to the Gimp website for editing purposes. A real learning curve there (for me), and it's free, which is great. :)

Here's a cut & paste of what he sent me for info on Gimp:

Here it is, it will require a restart. I saved it to desktop that way you get the icon, towards the top on the right it will say download latest version, 17.39mb, click the green button and go! 8)

Here's some I did earlier today, and edited with Gimp. Not great, but getting there, lol:

Original pic w/flash of a live flower my wife has sitting in the window seat in the kitchen:

First shot, no flash, using natural light through the blinds. Color enhancement (Gimp) used:

Second shot, no flash, natural light, & other adjustments used (forget which ones, lol):

Third shot, natural light, cropping, Brightness/Contrast & Color enhancement used:

LOOKS GREAT.
I have a d5000 and it is alot like the d3000.
I am using paint shop pro photo x2.
Not posted no pics with new cam yet but have did so good pics /edit of the family.
Please send more pics an info. about your cam. what lens are you using?

Nice camera you got! Member wasilvers also has a D5000. Mine came with (reading straight from the lense barrel): Nikon DX, VR, AF-S Nikkor 18-55mm. Best Buy has a Nikkor DX, VR, 55-200 for $199.99 (at the moment), but need to save my pennies for awhile to get it, lol. I want the zoom to get some closeups.

Make sure it is the VR mine came with AF-S ZOOM-NIKKOR 55-200MM F/4-5.6G ED.
I have not used it yet but it is not the VR model

I believe it was the VR, but will double check. Hopefully that price (or a better one) will still be available when I'm ready to purchase one.

Here's a couple of comparison shots. One before using Gimp, and the one after Gimp. Slight variations in the color in the After pic:

Good pics, I like the contrast in pic 10/13.

I have some catching up to do with my camera, but here, everything is all snow. Only so much white you can shoot!

Thanks, and I fully understand the snow thing. Currently it's 9* here, so I don't plan on going out if I can help it.
