WOW ... between that write-up and the embedded links, I agree that is the BEST article on boat wiring I've ever read, less digesting the books referenced (which I own)!
Only comment I have is not for the article, but for people who use it ... is in the "length" of the power run.
All of the ampacity calculations work on the principle that the 'length of the run' is the combined length of the positive run TO the load plus the negative run BACK to the battery. There is where I have seen failures and/or performance drops, as someone used the wrong wire size, thinking "It's only 6' away". But per those charts, you'd need to size the wire to the ampacity of a 12' run at the max amp draw of the load.
