You'll lose a bit of top end speed, but the boat will pop up on plane and your motor won't need to work so hard. I tried all the online pitch calculators I could find but I load my boat heavy and no calculator gave me a suggestion lower than 10" pitch. I went to a 9" anyway and it was perfect.
