Hello all tinboaters,
I'm currently working on my new old boat modification. The transom needs to be replaced and need some recommendations on marine grade sealant for the bolts and holes. I've found good content on how to seal the replacement parts but can't find anything on sealant recommendations for bolts and holes.

Can someone point me in right direction? I was looking at the 3M Silicone Marine grade option...are there better ones to use?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Use 3m 4200.5200 is forever.

X2..... although it can be hard to find. I looked for it for 2 weeks at every home center, marina, hardware, walmarts, body shops, no luck..... ended up having it ordered through my local hardware for $15 a tube.....yikes

Welcome to TinBoats.

When you get a chance, update your profile to show what part of the the world you live.

My local Home Depot sells it. Bass Pro sells it, most if not all boating stores will sell it, and some of the Auto Parts stores around me sell it. Be prepared to use the whole tube at one time. I'm fairly certain Russ on here already experienced that problem. Before investing in the bigger tube, you might plan out how much you actually need and see if the smaller tube will do it for you. Maybe some of the guys with experience using it can add some insight as far as much you get out of each.
