Saturday Night Drumming

Fished on the Jamman with Dockrat and his father. I was very impressed with the Jamman as a fishing boat - very comfortable but a pure fishing machine. It was a great deck layout, a comfortable cabin and decent speed


I was even more impressed with Capt. Chris and Capt. Rocky. These guys really love to fish - they were as excited to go out as we were. Spent the entire trip busting each other's balls and telling fishing stories, my kind of trip.

We got on the hook at around 7 pm with a stiff 15-20 mph wind and Capt. Chis started shucking and chumming the bushel of surf clams. We soon heard the thrum of the drum under the boat and thought that we would be into some big drums

Well the drum did not cooperate - we remained fishing for the next nine hours (these guys do not give up easy0 After hour four Dockrat was dead to the world snoring away in the cabin.

Dockrat did eat a snack before his nap:

Shizzy managed to catch the smallest doggie and Horseshoe crab anyone has seen:

Everyone else fished hard up until the end - but not one drum!

I wil be booking a few more trips this year with the Jamman - and cannot wait to see Dockrat in action on the Tuna, he promises good things

That sounds you had a great time. That Horseshoe crab was a little fart wasnt it? I wanna know how do you sleep when theres fishing to be done. To many beverages? Great pics and a cool post!

Dockrat is the man eating shark!

He slept becuase he did an 8 hour charter in the morning - he is the Captain's son and we brought him for ballast only. He is 16 so he was not drinking anything other then soda

That looks like a blast. Shizzy, you cannot get a good trip this year, I am glad I didnt got. Just look at it this way, if you would have hooked into a big drum you would have been fighting it forever. It still would have been fun to catch a bunch of drum though. Next time.
