im gonna put seat bases in my boat and i only have 1.75 inches from the top of the deck too the bottom of the hull would cutting the bases and the pins down too 1.5 inches leave enough meet too support big guys under load??? (ie 200- 350 lbs) thanks Scott

have you thought about building up where the pedestal is going to be sitting?

So basically, you'll have your deck, then you can make a 1' sqare section that is raised whatever height it takes to get the seat mount in without cutting it. If you cut it off, I'd be scared you'd lose some support of the seat since all of the extra pressure is exerted throughout the length of the seat pole

I hope that makes sense... it does in my head, but I'm not sure if I typed it clearly

an even better idea would be to mount the seat mounts upside down.... then you have an extra 2.5-3 inches of seat height...

sorry, my brain runs like crazy with ways of jerry rigging stuff

I had the same problem. Here is what I came up with using 2 peices of aluminium channel.
