Hello everyone,

Wanted to know when you tow your boat do you leave the cover on or off? what are the pros and cons of either way?

Thanks

dont tow with mine because its just a tarp

ive seen alot of the cheap boat covers rip when people tow with them, just not strong enough to hold against the wind

I could tow with mine on but I don't (unless I am just running a couple of miles to the gas station or something).

My cover is custom made and fits like a glove but even at that, you can see where the material rubs the contact points just from the daily wind and heat expansion/contraction. Flapping around in the wind while driving down the road would only speed that up exponentially.

Only time I tow mine with the cover on is if it just rained/is raining when I'm on my dirt road. As soo as I get to the pavement, I take it off. I don't worry about water getting on the boat, I just don't want everything covered in mud.

If you do want to trailer your boat with a cover, most covers will indicate that they are for trailering. Don't buy a cheap one and hope it holds up, because it wont.
