I put new wiring on my trailer rebuild.

I have break lights on the truck and trailer when i hit the peddle.

I have tail lights on the truck and trailer when the running lights are on.

I have left and right turn signals on the truck and trailer when hit.

here's the weird thing, when i have the tail lights on and i hit the break peddle, the trailer lights go out, like their dead, but the trucks still work?

I realize that the truck trailer plug is a 4-way switch but my trailer lighting is a 5-way set up.

So here is the lay out on the truck,
Right turn signal is green
Left turn signal is yellow
Tail lights/license/side marker is Brown
White is Ground

Tail lights/license/side marker is Brown & red
white is ground.

All colors are hooked up, but I put the Brown & Red wire together off the trailer and hooked them both to the Brown wire on the truck, here's a pic

So, is my problem the red & brown wire together? if so, is there a way to still hook up a 4-way to a 5-way?

I went ahead and tried to wire just the brown to the truck from the trailer and then split it off at the end to both tail lights on the trailer, still no go.

Im confused, i have everything, only when i hit the breaks with the tail lights ON that the trailer lights quit working at that moment. :?

My grounds seem good, i guess nothing would work if a ground wasn't good correct?

Most likely. Do you have another trailer you can hook up the truck?
I run a white ground wire to each light on my trailers.

I agree, a ground wire for each trailer light will probably solve the problem. The tilt trailers are really tough to get one ground to work for all the lights.
