NEVER buy one of the "Seasense" brand aerator pumps from walmart.

Basically ever since i've had my boat, the livewell pump had never worked, which was a Rule pump. I never really used my livewell, so i'm just now getting around to getting it working. I went to walmart with intent to buy one of the Attwood Tsunami pumps which they used to carry, to my misfortune they don't carry those anymore. But I seen these "Seasense" pumps which were 800gph and looked pretty descent, so I thought I would try it out. I've been round n' round trying to work this thing out, changed positions, triple checked any possible airleaks, made sure no "dips" in my lines which could possibly cause "airlock", nothing......I had already taken one back due to the outlet "nipple" breaking off and thinking I may have had a defective pump....nope. These things are junk.....there is something with how they are made inside the doesn't allow them to work properly. I've heard of one other guy on BBC(Bass Boat Central) having the same issue with his not working properly.

In closing.....Don't buy one. Go to Bass Pro Shops, Gander Mtn, etc, etc and get a name brand pump(Attwood, Rule, Mayfair). They aren't really any cheaper anyway, I just bought mine because I don't live close to anywhere else that sells other pumps.

As I suspected, This was indeed my problem. Me and my dad ran to BPS saturday to pick up his Father's Day present and I picked myself up a new Mayfair 500gph Aerator pump. Took the boat out last night with the new pump installed and it worked like a champ.

So again, Anyone that considers buying one of these "Seasense" aerator pumps....DON'T!

Mayfair is now Johnson, but the great thing is they are a cartridge unit and its just lift the lock and twist 1/2 turn. I replaced both in my lake boat this year in 30 minutes. the 550 housing can use the 800gph pump too.
